Welcome to the Centre for Environment and Green Technology (CEGT), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)

Welcome to the Centre for Environment and Green Technology (CEGT), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). CEGT is dedicated to advancing environmentally sustainable solutions through innovative research and green technological development. Guided by national and global sustainability priorities, our Centre brings together expertise from science, engineering, and applied disciplines to address environmental challenges of both local relevance and global concern.

CEGT’s activities are driven by impact-oriented research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Malaysia MADANI principles, and the national green technology agenda. Key research thrusts include pollution mitigation, sustainable and renewable energy systems, green and functional materials, resource recovery, and environmentally responsible process technologies. Through these efforts, our centre seeks to enhance water, air, and soil quality, promote efficient use of natural resources, and support the transition towards a low-carbon and circular economy.

CEGT also plays an active role in knowledge transfer by working closely with academic institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders. These engagements strengthen policy relevance, support technology adoption, and extend the societal impact of research outcomes. Our centre members also provide professional consultancy, technical services, and targeted training programmes to facilitate the implementation of green technologies and best environmental practices across both academic and industrial sectors.

MOTTO OF CEGT

Developing niche green technologies that would meet national and regional needs

| DESCRIPTION OF CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENT AND GREEN TECHNOLOGY
The current environmental development and trend have clearly indicated a strong demand for research and development in environment and green technology. The Centre for Environment and Green Technology (CEGT) was established with a main objective to tap the vast opportunities in environment and green technology and to develop a strong local expertise to meet the challenges and demand in the years ahead. The main focus of the R&D in CEGT is to spearhead multi-disciplinary research and development in green technology involving concerted effort and collaboration across disciplines and faculties in UTAR.
| AIMS/GOALS
1) To become a national hub in Malaysia for sustainability in social responsibility and economic solutions.
2) To integrate cross-disciplinary research that are required to provide sustainable production and industries solutions.
3) To promote sustainable communities with cross-disciplinary research to formulate the environmental concept.
| OBJECTIVES
1) To identify the research activities that enable circular economy and sustainable development.
2) To initiate the research collaborations with industries and universities.
3) To disseminate knowledge about ecological systems, green technology and sustainable development.
| TARGETED IMPACTS
1) National/International recognition as an active centre that can enhance circular economy and sustainable development.
2) Local research hub providing environment and green technology solutions to industry and community.
3) Contribution to community through knowledge transfer programme and community outreach projects.
